Stevenson Girls Golf

Way to go Britt Rasky! Britt broke 50 for the first time at Crane's Landing with a 49 in her JV match against Lake Zurich. Britt also scored her first birdie and an outstanding par on the final hole. She led the JV golfers to the victory and their 4-0 record.

The Varsity Golfers also continued their unbeaten streak with a 181-213 victory over Lake Zurich. Kaitlin Garske medaled for the first time this year with a low 42 (12 putts!!!) followed by Jennifer Gorman (43) and Melissa Goldberg and Angelina Kim with matching 48s.

The conditions were tough both with the wind and with trying to surpass their high expectations, but the team made great strides toward learning how to "grind" and how to work to make a tough score better.

The Lady Pats surged into a 3rd place finish at the Lake County Invite with another record. Never before have the Lady Pats finished with every Varsity golfer scoring in the 80s...until today!

With a team total of 333, the Lady Patriots finished 3rd out of 14 teams. Only Lake Forest (326) and Barrington (331) surpassed the low Stevenson score.

Angelina Kim scored her personal best (82) followed by Jennifer Gorman with a solid 83 while Alex Kessler and Kaitlin Garske rounded out the team lows with matching 84s. All four girls received medals for finishing in the top 15 of this outstanding field.

Not to be forgotten, Erin Moreau and Brit Vipham scored the best ever scores NOT to be counted in a Stevenson Golf match. This is a tremendous fete that helps contribute to team success!

Next up is the beginning of the conference dual meet schedule with two home meets (Lake Zurich on Tuesday / Antioch on Friday.) But this team still has the same goal as Day 1 of the season...seek continued and consistent improvement as individuals and as a team.

Good luck ladies!

Arlington Lakes Golf Club

Another event, another record breaking performance.

The Lady Pats finished with a double victory in their tri-meet between Hersey and Rolling Meadows with a record shattering team score of 341. This breaks the previous team low for 18 holes (360) set just two days prior.

Jennifer Gorman led the team with an 80, which included a 35 on the front -- her personal best for nine holes.

Angelina Kim was right behind with an 83 while Kaitlin Garske and Alex Kessler matched each other with 89s on the short but tricky Arlington Lakes Golf Club.

While impressive, each girl cited areas for improvement as well and eager anticipation for Angelina Kim to finally pick her MVP tune!

The Lady Patriot Golfers got out to a strong start for their first 18-hole competition at the Prospect Invite. Their score of 360 sets a new standard for team scores at an 18-hole event. (The previous record stood at 364.)

Angelina Kim returned to the Varsity roster to shoot a team low 87. Jennifer Gorman cracked 90 in her first Varsity invite with an 89. Melissa Goldberg came back from rough start to finish with a 91 and a great par (nearly a birdie) on 18! Kaitlin Garske rounded out the team low scores with a 93. Erin Moreau + Alex Kessler both came in with 96s and Whitney Paul led a great comeback in her round with a 48 on the back nine.

While a team record was set, all were left knowing that this team has not even begun to reach its true potential...the mark of a special group of young athletes!

Congrats to the Stevenson Lady Golfers on their first win of the 2006 season against the Bison of Buffalo Grove. With a final score of 180, the Lady Pats secured the lowest score ever for a first match of the season.

Highlights included a 43 by sophomore Kaitlin Garske and 46s by sophomore Alex Kessler and freshman Jennifer Gorman--all in their first Varsity match! Junior Whitney Paul also contributed to the team score with a very impressive 45. Nice work WP!

Erin Moreau's initial tee shot summarized the day. Erin approached her first drive with a lot of anxiety and nerves--to say the least--and crushed it down the middle of the first fairway resulting in gasps from the onlooking gallery. Unforgettable!

Good luck at the Prospect Invite!
